By Laws Article II Section 1
|Dear Friends of NYSTA:
At the recent Western Regional Conference, Senator Grisanti, Chair of the
NYS Senate Environmental Conservation Committee, recommended that
industry professionals let their legislators know they support amending the
pesticide reporting law. He encouraged attendees to send letters and
participate in NYSTA's Turfgrass Advocacy Day, stating "this has a
significant impact on a legislator's vote".
The Governor's budget lifts the pesticide reporting burden from the certified
pesticide applicator community. Pesticide applicators have spent countless
hours at a great cost. Researchers acknowledged that the information is
not usable. The Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner
Joe Martens testified at a budget hearing that changes need to be made.
This budget proposal is an appropriate cost reduction action given that the
data has not been compiled nor requested by researchers.
Again, NYSTA is requesting your assistance. A letter is prepared for you on
the New York Farm Bureau website:
http://capwiz.com/nyfb/state/main/?state=NY. (Or go to www.nyfb.org, click
on the black box that says E-Lobby and follow the directions). This will only
take a few minutes and is a great way to communicate to legislators in
support of our industry.
This issue will be included in NYSTA's Turfgrass Advocacy Day agenda on
March 12, 2014. Only you can educate legislators as to your business
practices and environmental stewardship. If you have not registered to
attend and would like to, please go to:
